What Happened in the Capitol Last Week and How Should We View It?
Patriots or Thugs?
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:13-18—ESV)
Those who rioted are responsible for their own conduct. Neither Donald Trump nor Nancy Pelosi (nor anyone else can be blamed for their conduct). Criminality rests squarely on the lawless shoulders of the rioters. Nonetheless, democrats and republicans, including the President, could have shown better leadership and kept the temperature down. This might have made things better, not worse.
No amount of voter fraud, disenfranchisement, or injustice justifies what happened last week at the Capitol building, particularly given the loss of life and damage to property and the Republic. Some have suggested that the rioters were ANTIFA infiltrators. Their own social media posts and testimonies—and the evidence indicates otherwise:
The beating and killing of one Law Enforcement Officer and the injury of others:
Caution: This video is by a former police officer who reviews such things. The video is graphic and the language is rough. The language is rough but the video is helpful. He covers the murder of a police officer and the beating of another.
Was the man with “Buffalo Horns” an ANTIFA Agitator? No.
Another ANTIFA agitator? Was the man who thought he sat in Nancy Pelosi’s seat (it was actually Mike Pence’s seat) in the Capitol an ANTIFA agitator? No.
Was the Richard Barnett seated at Nancy Pelosi’s desk in Nancy Pelosi’s office a left wing agitator?
